Ukrainian Bridal Ritual

Prior to the wedding ceremony, the groom ( svakhy ) and his family give gifts to the bride’s family in accordance with custom. The patient’s name is pronounced when the best guy distributes the presents. Gifts that represent like and forever range from a beverage cup for communion to embroidered rushnyky.

The starosty, which are two friends or family members ( one from each side), serve as the ceremony’s master, presided over the Ukrainian wedding ceremony. They also introduce the few to the cathedral, bring the couple’s Virgin Mary and jesus icons into the service, and observe the union.

The few is approached by pieces of mothers, both of whom are kids and relatives, during the ceremony. They exchange bow as a sign of respect and give their grace. Additionally, they may give the handful symbolic presents like ceremony wheat known as korovai or catholic graphics.

The pair carries a rushnyk, an embroidered red linen, before the official wedding. This ties the handful to their grandparents and represents fertility. In a marriage, it is said that the person who makes the initial move on the rushnyk likely utilize the jeans.

Another fun part of ukrainian wedding is the Buyout a Bride>> ritual. This is when the groom asks his close friends to bring him a gift for the bride-to-be. In return for the gift, they must answer questions about her, usually praising her qualities. After that, the family hands her over to her soon-to-be husband.
